Giving you body a detox (cleanse) on a regular basis is so important, especially with all the eating out that happens during the busy months where you find yourself eating out more then normal. As was the case for our family in December… Now, this is coming from a gal that doesn’t do the whole fast food thing. Chipotle, Rubios, Chick-fil-A and In and Out are the ‘fast food’ picks on our grab a quick bite, and even then my stomach pays for it because I am not use to eating out much. Which all of the above are high in salt, ingredients are purchased in bulk, and not to mention they are by far freshest ingredients.
To start a liquid detox I decide the about of days, activities, and such before hand. I do a mini-clease for three days normally if I am just trying to reboot from a few weeks of bad habits!
You’ll need to decide on the smoothies or juices you’ll be drinking, purchase your items before hand and remember only start with a few days and always check with your doctor to ensure it’s best for you.
#1. Drink lots of purified water. This will not only cut your hunger, hydrate you and give you some energy. It'll also fortify you and help you throughout the day.
#2 This ones a little harder for me because I enjoy a good glass of wine...While I am on a detox or cleanse, I skip the wine, and turn to my backup bubbly Perrier, which is carbonated mineral water or I cut up lemon slices and place them in ice trays with purified water and freeze them to have throughout my detox with water. Something about these cubes that make my water glass look fancy and it’s a reminder when my ice cubes are floating around my glass that I am detoxing! Not to mention the benefits: did you know that the pectin from the lemon aids in curbing your appetite, detoxifies, helps the digestive track, and gives you that little extra boost. Try starting your day with a glass of warm or cold lemon water. Especially if your cutting out coffee during your detox...which I highly suggest.
Remember this is my version of a mini-cleanse, a little baby one to reset my sluggish body after a few bad choices over the Holidays! Just 3 days of liquids such as smoothies, juices, and lots of water
I don’t always measure, I estimate on most the juices and smoothies. Finally, I suggest if you don’t already-buy organic produce during a detox and wash your fruits and veggies regardless.
Instructions for all the smoothies
1. In a blender combine all of the ingredients and blend until smooth. Add in a few ice cubes to make sure everything gets cold.
Instructions for all the juices
